Research Seminars
CenMAS Hub runs the Research Seminar in Area Studies (RSAS), a monthly seminar series dedicated to ongoing research in broadly conceived area studies and adjacent disciplines at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University.
The seminars bring together junior and senior researchers (including PhD candidates) working across different regions, disciplines and methodological approaches. They provide a space for discussing work in progress, sharing peer feedback and creating new connections across area studies and other departments at the Faculty.
How the seminars work
The seminars are held in English and take place once a month during the winter and summer semesters.
Each session focuses on one or two ongoing research projects. These may include draft manuscripts, book proposals, research project proposals or other work in progress. Authors briefly introduce their work, followed by feedback from a designated discussant and an open discussion with seminar participants.
Materials are circulated among participants one week before the seminar, allowing the sessions to focus primarily on discussion and constructive feedback.
See below for information about the Research Seminars in the winter semester 2026/27!
The Research Seminar in Area Studies is coordinated by Jan Daniel and Mahmoud Farag.
