Biography
Tereza Chlaňová graduated in 1998 at Charles University (Faculty of Arts) – English and American studies and Ukrainian studies. In 2006 she earned her Ph.D. on Ukrainian prose of the 1920s. She works as an assistant professor at the Department of East European Studies of Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague.
She is the head of Czech Association of Ukrainists (Česká asociace ukrajinistů). She teaches Ukrainian literature and translation studies.
She is an editor of the book Wandering Round Contemporary Ukrainian Literary Landscape (Putování současnou ukrajinskou literární krajinou, 2010) and co-editor of publications concerned with contemporary Ukrainian literature and Ukrainian emigration (e. g.: Historical and cultural phenomenon of Ukrainian Husbandry Academy in Poděbrady / Історично-культурний феномен Української господарської академії в Подєбрадах, 2024). She publishes articles about Ukrainian interwar emigration and Ukrainian literature.
She translates Ukrainian literature into Czech (T. Maliarchuk, Y. Darahan, A. Chekh, M. Laiuk, M. Dupeshko, T. Prokhasko, Y. Vynnychuk, V. Rafeienko, O. Mychailov, H. Chubai, O. Teliha, M. Kiyanovska etc.).
Since 2024 she is involved in the project CELA (Connecting Emerging Literary Artists). She takes part in an international translation project Jugurtha. She cooperates with Czech publishing houses as a consultant and language editor.
