Biography
Doc. Petra Košťálová, Ph.D., graduated from Armenian Studies and Ethnology at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts, Charles University; she holds co-tutellle Ph.D. degree in Ethnology (Charles University) and History (Université Paul Valéry). She works as Associate Professor at Department of Ethnology, Central-European and Balkan Studies at Charles University in Prague (UESEBS). Her research deals with ethnicity, stereotypes and collective memory, focusing on the Caucasus region (especially on Armenian history, literature and culture) as well as the region of Central Europe and Balkans.
She is the author of following monographs: The Stranger On the Road: Simeon from Lviv (in English, 2023), Simeon of Poland, Travels 1608-1618: Travel Accounts and Chronicles of the Armenian Pilgrim (in Czech, 2016), Armenian Chronicles from Lake Van: 16th–18th centuries (in Czech, 2011), Stereotypical Images and Ethnic Myths: Cultural Identity of Armenia (in Czech, 2012), L’image de l’Autre dans les chroniques arméniennes (in French,2010) and Songs of the Land of Nairi: Folk and Troubadour Songs of Medieval Armenia (in Czech, 2006); co-author of the book The Calamity of Christians: Extermination of Armenians, Assyrians and Greeks in the Ottoman Empire in 1914-1923 (in Czech, 2017) and History of Armenia (in Czech, 2023).
