Biography
Coleman Mahler (PhD UC Berkeley 2025) is a historian of modern China and Taiwan, whose research sits at the intersection between science, information, and statecraft. His book manuscript, Grains of Truth, explores the parallel histories of official statistics on China and Taiwan starting in the 1940s, and the different models for producing data that emerged from these experiments. He has published or has forthcoming articles on topics ranging from the history of empiricism in East Asia, the history of 1950s socialist internationalism, to contemporary Czech-Taiwan economic relations.
As a contributing researcher to Charles University Supply Chain Resilience Center, he is working on policy papers on the Czech innovation ecosystem, and drone supply.
