Invitation: Public research symposium on erosion of the democracies in Central America

Contemporary democracies collapse less often through coups; more frequently, they gradually erode from within.

We invite you to a research symposium presenting diverse perspectives on democratic erosion, institutional capture, and the legal and civic strategies that seek to defend the democratic order.

The speakers will include Prof. Mariana Llanos and Alina Maria Ripplinger, M.A., from the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA). Their contributions will be complemented by Assoc. Prof. Karel Kouba and Dr. Radek Buben from the Center fot Ibero-american Studies, Faculty of Arts, Charles University.
