What were – and still are – the real motivations of U.S. political leaders in relation to Venezuela? What is the role of Venezuelan oil, and how does China factor into the equation? And what would Simón Bolívar do if he found himself in Maduro’s position?
These and many other questions were addressed during a highly topical public lecture entitled The Crisis between the United States and Venezuela in Historical Perspective, delivered by Dr. Radek Buben, an expert in the modern history of Latin America and the transformation of its political regimes, at the Filozoficka fakulta Univerzity Karlovy.
🙏 A big thank you to everyone who attended – there were many of you! We look forward to welcoming you again at some of our upcoming events.
The lecture was jointly organised by the Center for Ibero-American Studies, Faculty of Arts, Charles University, and the ERA-AREAS project, which supports the development of research and teaching in area studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. The project is funded by the European Union.
